Are We A World of Gadget Lovers?

We all know that sites such as Facebook abd Twitter are becoming massively popular on the internet. Even if you don’t use them yourself, you’ll know family and friends that do. Whether you use these sites for social networking or to help your business, the amount of time we use these sites for is increasing every day.

Internet statistics can prove just how popular these sites really are. Yesterday, a massive 26% of all global internet users visited Facebook.com, this makes the social networking site the second most popular site in the world, coming in behind Google’s 37%. The second most popular social website is Youtube, taking in 23% of all internet users. Despite Twitter only having a mere 4%, they are looking to become one of the largest social networking sites in the near future.

Our need to tell everyone about our lives, all of the time, has led to the introduction of many gadgets and gizmos that are build for social networking. These gadgets allow us to connect to the world wide wed anywhere we go. One gadget that has move ahead in leaps and bounds recently are mobile phones, one of the most popular new ‘smart phones‘ being the iPhone. Other devices include netbooks which are designed for on-the-go working and social networking.

Our need to connect the internet 24/7 supports the claim that we actually are addicted to gadgets. Even if you don’t spend your life on social networking sites, you won’t have to look very far before you see a gadget that you never leave the house without. Whether it’s an MP3 player, such as an iPod, or just a mobile phone, these are the main gadgets that we can’t live without.

Retailers have caught onto the fact that we love out little gadgets and now almost everyday a new wacky gadget is released, everything from Ipod speakers to light alarm clocks

With Christmas approaching, online retailers look to make a small fortune from gadget sales as customer race online to pick-up those must have novelty items. A few of the novalty items we’re after this year are flying lanterns, people really will buy anything these days.
